The Best repellent I have ever used bar none is. 3M brand ULTRATHON insect repellent it works for 12hrs and keep every kind of insect and creepy crawly away. Even in the deep woods and forests of the Deep South. This stuff is not eco friendly it has more warning than plutonium. They even advise that you not get it on your watches crystal or your sunglass frames! But damnit it works!

Cutter brand repellent make a candle that actually works you light it in this selfcontained glass holder you can set on your outside table it melts completely and the scent is like and works like the cans of Cutter spray repellent. Work really well for a radius of 10ft.

I sure hate them buggers too and also hate the smell of the candles. You can try instead of repelling the mosquitoes, you can attract them with a mosquito trap, which functions similar on how we attract them in the first place. There are methods of DIY but don't think they work as good as a commercial traps.
