After looking it up, because I had no idea about bulk carriers, you are right. I posted this because I find it impressive and hard to believe someone would return to the sea again after an experience like this
believe it or not this kind of weather stops being scary given time, and turns into a major nuisance. after years at sea it just becomes part of the deal. i guess it balances out all the serenity and beauty that is so much a part of the sea...
Have you ever tried to sink a polystyrene float? These containers are built on the same principal. These monsters flex by meters too, otherwise they'd snap in two. #4's a very powerful image.
