buddhist temple beer bottles thailand
Wat Pa Maha Chedi Kaew, the “Temple of a Million Bottles” was initiated in 1984 by Buddhist monks in Sisaket Province of Thailand.

The structures are made up of over 1.5 million recycled Heineken and local Chang beer bottles. Everything from the crematorium to the sleeping quarters are made from the bottles.

The monks still collect the bottles in efforts of keeping the communities clean and to continue building more structures.
